The Royal Station Hotel, Newcastle
Extortionate, but convenient

Default The Royal Station Hotel, Newcastle

I had to go to Newcastle to my brothers funeral, and, as I was going by train, I thought I'd stay at the hotel next to the station.

I checked out the website, got a price of £65 per night, room only. This was £20 more expensive than the Travelodge, but as it was more convenient I thought it would be ok.

But when I went to check in they said they only had one room, which was £85 per night. I only had 40 minutes to get to the crematorium so I took it.

Then they told the next person behind me in the queue that they only had one room left- they seemed to be doing it to everyone.

They room was clean but threadbare, the bathroom you couldn't swing a kitten in a crash helmet, but you got a complimentary carton of orange juice, small bottle of water and 2 club biscuits.

So if the convenience is a priority, you pay for it, but if not, go somewhere else!
