After seeing a rve review in PC Advisor I ordered a PC from Eclipse Computers using their website Eclipse Computers but on delivery screen (over 1 month after ordering) it had red tint due to faulty graphics card!
6 weeks later DVD tray jammed in out position! Despite reporting the initial DVD drive problem and asking for it to be fixed under the warranty eclipse refuse to collect the PC under the premier30 warranty insisting I post it, with its DVD tray stuck out, at my own expense!!!

I felt a fool when I saw just what bad feedback Eclipse Computers (of Coventry) has for product reliability and customer service.

"I paid for a computer in Nov 07, arrived 3 weeks later, not 10-14 days.
Faulty on arrival - notified them immediately.
Collected computer on 3rd Jan, tried to charge for repairs, which I refused.
Still waiting for money back 25 Mar 08.
They've had my money for more than 4 months and for most of that they've had my computer as well!!

I have bought loads of stuff off eclipse - never has a problem with any of it. I don't get it delivered by them though, son lives round the corner from them, so he goes in and buys over the counter. Maybe they send all the rubbish out to internet buyers.

I didn't even know they had all these complaints, might of put me off buying from them if I had. But as I have had no problems with anything, apart from a faulty SODIMM which the guy replaced on the spot, I will continue to use until such time they sell me some crap.

To be honest i think eclipse customer services are amazing.
They had quick speedy replies and treated me with the utmost respect.

Here are a few emails i have had from them after querying about my order.
The bold sentences are the beginning of a new email.

Heres the story.
I emailed them straight after my order because after doing some research on the internet i was quite worried because of all this 'bad feedback and bad customer service' that i had been hearing about.
So i wanted to check on the delivery date and check out their customer services...

Well as you can see they are Extremely polite, yes they had to delay the order but this is the same as every single internet site selling this laptop. (the suppliers were only restocking to all the internet dealers at the same date)
Personally i would reccomend them.

With reference to the recent order that you have placed with us for a Asus G71V-7T001C Notebook, I regret that our purchasers have provided an estimated eta on this product, however, this is now not expected until early december. They have subsequently advised that there is a alternative notebook, of which is the ASUS G70S-7S019C 17 T9500 4G 640G VHP Notebook. This is slightly more in price, at £1299.95 excl. vat, however does have a better specification in many respects, apart from that it does not come included with a Blu-Ray optical drive.

This product is however available for delivery with you next week if accepted, and for your reference, more information on this item is attached.
I am only sorry if this alternative is not suitable, and the delay causes you any inconvenience.

yes James was polite with me too ( and I was polite back) - polite but v helpful and inconsistent several times changing his story as to whether i was entitled to have my faulty PC picked up ( as I felt I was under the premier30 scheme since I reported it faulty and requested it be fixed within 30 days - by the time Eclipse had delayed me with eg suggestions I contact the monitor maker direct 30 days had elapsed).

I think the proof of the pudding will come when you do have a PC problem and you are landed with ££ of non working gear that Eclipse are reluctant to fix - I guess replacing a faulty SODIMM on the spot wasn't sufficent inconvenience that they tried to wriggle out of it - a faulty PC might be a different matter,
how often their PCs fail is hard to say compared to other makers - often enough though and the drawback is their refusal to help when this does happen.

Had a problem once with eclipse over a faulty part. It arrived faulty and had clearly be used before. They wouldnt accept that it had be used before and after getting nowhere with them I directed them to a website that I had built with there name on it which had pictures and copies of all the letters on it.

After a few empty threats (which were posted on the site aswell) they soon came round to my thinking.
